Tacoma’s Biggest Ship

Four Foss tugs assisted Evergreen’s Thalassa Axia, believed to be the largest ship ever to call the Port of Tacoma, into Pierce County Terminal on Nov. 1. The ship is 1,200 feet in length and is capable of carrying the equivalent of 13,800 twenty-foot container equivalent units (TEUs). The assisting tugs, from the stern of the ship to the bow, were the Wedell Foss, Marshall Foss, Lynn Marie and Henry Foss. Port of Tacoma Photo.
