Foss Transports World’s Largest Railcar Barge

Since 1993, Foss has safely guided the world’s largest railcar barge, the Aquatrain, for the Canadian National Railroad (CNR) between Prince Rupert, B.C., to Whittier, Alaska. Foss tugs, the Justine Foss and the Barbara Foss, tow the 100 by 400 foot barge on a 12-day cycle, 30 times a year, where it links with the Alaska Railroad for daily service to Anchorage and Fairbanks.

CD5 Bridge Components Delivered

Foss Maritime transported 11,000 tons of construction materials for the Conoco Philips – CD5 bridge project to build four bridges across the Colville River connecting Conoco’s Alpine Facility to a satellite operation in the National Petroleum Reserve of Alaska (NPRA).

Kearl Oil Sands Module Transport

Foss Maritime successfully delivered 155 Korean-built modules in support of the Kearl Oil Sands project near Fort McMurray, Alberta – one of Canada’s largest open-pit mining operations.

D.O.D Cargo Delivered

The multi-purpose vessel, the Strong Mariner, transported sensitive cargo for a joint US-Australian military exercise conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). Handling the cargo logistics and transportation, voyage planning, load and discharge operations, Foss delivered on time to a remote location with limited infrastructure.

Historic Voyage to Revelstoke

Pioneering a new route, Foss delivered a fully constructed 190-ton turbine to Revelstoke, Canada. Arriving from Brazil, the turbine was towed from Portland, OR to Pasco, WA.

Rig Tow to Cook Inlet

Three high horsepower Foss tugs towed the M.O.D.U. Spartan 151 from Esquimalt, B.C. into the Cook Inlet, passing Nikiski, Alaska. The tugs escorted the oilrig over 1,500 nautical miles through the Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska with the assistance of detailed voyage planning and location specific weather forecasting technology.

USCG Loran Decommissioning

Working with Jacob’s Field Services to dismantle antiquated Long-Range Aid to
