Ship Assists and Escorts
From our Puget Sound Headquarters in Seattle, Washington, we operate a fleet of tugs with horsepower up to 8,000 hp that can safely dock or escort your vessel to any Puget Sound port. Whether docking a containership or escorting a tanker, you can count on Foss Maritime to accomplish the job safely.
Ship Bunkering
With our fleet of petroleum barges, with capacity up to 40,000 barrels, we are prepared to offer ship bunkering services at any Puget Sound location. All of our barges and tankermen comply with all state and federal laws relating to loading, transport and discharge of petroleum products. Our environmental stewardship includes membership in the Clean Sound Cooperative and Marine Spill Response Corporation.

Regional Towing
Since the turn of the century, Foss has been towing logs and commodity barges through regional waterways. Whether you need to move a shipment of wood chips, logs, cement, chemicals, petroleum, sand or gravel, Foss will ensure the job is done right and on time. Plus, the Foss fleet features specialized barges to transport a variety of bulk commodities. Heavy machinery, rolling equipment, housing modules, and construction materials are safely and efficiently towed on flat-deck, cargo barges. If it needs to be transported via water, Foss can handle the job.
Ocean Towing/Marine Transportation
If you need to move commodities or oversized cargo throughout the Pacific Rim, turn to Foss for experienced personnel, proper equipment, and "Always Ready"® service that ensures the job will be done right, on time and on budget. Foss pioneered ocean towing to Alaska and the islands of the Pacific and has provided marine transportation services for more than 70 years.
Foss can transport virtually any cargo by barge. From sand and gravel to construction materials and heavy equipment, Foss has the resources and know-how to see the job through. The Foss fleet includes ocean towing tugs, and a fleet of flat-deck, multi-purpose and specialized commodity barges. Shipyard Services
"Always Ready"® - At Foss Shipyard, we know that equipment costs money when it won’t work. That’s why we ensure your vessel is repaired and ready for safe operation as quickly as possible. Foss Maritime Company’s exceptionally reliable tug fleet and our repeat customers from distant water fishing fleets are testimony to the effectiveness of Foss Shipyard. Our focus on competitive, high quality service brings diverse vessels from the Navy, the petroleum and timber industries, high speed passenger vessels and private yachts to our Seattle facility.
Two floating dry-docks with up to 2,000 ton capacity provide a base for underbody maintenance, hull repairs, shaft repairs and for modifications. We accomplish hull cleaning and coating to routine or special requirements. Our knowledge of surface preparations, contemporary coatings and their application is second to none. Emergency repairs are also available off site 24-hours a day, 365 days a year from the “Foss Flying Squad.” In addition, the Foss Marine Ways at Rainier, Oregon, provides cost effective vessel repairs on the Columbia River.

Marine Services
The Foss Terminal, adjacent to Foss Shipyard, provides customers with fresh water moorage, an upland staging area, and competitively priced cargo loading and offloading. Moorage for larger vessels is available on Puget Sound. The Foss 300 floating derrick crane provides heavy lift capacity of up to 75 short tons.

Take left off-ramp (Exit 167) to Mercer St.
As you emerge from the Tunnel and enter traffic, merge right as you travel 1/2 block to Fairview Ave.
Turn right on Fairview Ave. and go a very short half block to Valley St.
Go left (west) on Valley St. to Westlake Ave. North and turn right.
Stay on Westlake and be in the left lane as you approach Nickerson St. Intersection. (The Fremont bridge is on you right).
Go straight through the intersection (do not cross the Fremont Bridge) and follow Nickerson to 6th Ave (approx. 3/4 mile).
Turn right on 6th Ave. and go a very short half block to Ewing St.
Turn left on Ewing Street and continue about 1˝ blocks to the entrance to Foss Maritime Offices on right.
From Southbound I-5
Take the Mercer St. off-ramp (Exit 167) and follow to Fairview Ave.
