Environmental Policy
Foss Maritime Company is committed to operating its business based on responsible environmental management and with concern for the well-being of our common environment. Foss respects and protects the environment through continuous improvement in our environmental performance, commitment to pollution prevention, and efficiency in our use of natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable, in our operations. In recognition of our obligation, both locally and globally, to present and future generations we will participate in the development of sound environmental policies and solutions to environmental problems within our industry. We are guided by the principles of sustainability and are working towards a goal of zero trace for our business.
Our environmental stewardship is evidenced by the following:
A. Safety, accident prevention and environmental protection are the top priorities in our business planning, the overall conduct of our business and the operation and maintenance of our vessels and facilities.
B. Foss operates in strict compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations especially pertaining to environmental aspects.
C. Company programs that address education, training and communication of environmental policies and procedures are continually updated and reinforced.
D. Emergency response plans that will facilitate a swift response to any environmental incident in order to minimize environmental damage are maintained and reviewed.
E. Foss actively participates with governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations in the development of increasingly responsible laws, regulations and standards which safeguard the environment.
F. Communicating the Environmental Policy to all persons working for or on behalf of the organization and is made available to the public.
G. Establishes and periodically reviews safety, environmental and quality objectives and targets.
